My parents reported to me this morning that their G4/867 with 768MB RAM running 10.2.3 slows down to a crawl after about 2 hours of use. They don't use Classic at all and are primarily running Office and some solitaire game. I'm reluctant to upgrade them to 10.2.4 since they don't have broadband.

I told them to run Disk Utility and report back to me, but they said they did that a couple weeks ago and it didn't help. I'm thinking the next step is to tell them to repair disk permissions. Any other ideas?

Keep in mind this is all phone tech support so the more ideas I can relay to them in one shot the better.

thanks
kman

Ask them to open process viewer or something and see if any erroneous process is hogging lots of CPU time.

There was a problem with HP printer drivers (mainly all in ones) which did this, but I think that was under 10.2.2 and was later fixed. Still, it may be worth some research...

well, it could be something running in the background having a memory leak.. i donno.

You could burn the 10.2.4 standalone updater to a CD and mail it to them... makes a great birthday gift too!
