Back when X was released there was some sample driver code Apple had that let you use a pci tv tuner in X. It was called Shagadellic Telly it worked with a certain chipset and came with a kernal extension. Anyway back then I bought an ixmicro pci card, had it set up and it worked pretty well for awhile and then broke as the OS was updated. The card still works fine in 9, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get it working again in X.

You could look here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xtv/ The last release was 12 months ago, though, so results may vary. If you try it out, can you tell me how you got on?

I also found a link to the last version of the OS 9 software: http://eshop.macsales.com/Tech/index...d=ixmicro.html

I've tried xtv with no luck. It's a shame because my card has just been sitting there doing nothing for the last year or so. Never seen that german site, it looks cool maybe I'll try it later even though it says it's "inkompatibel"

I wish someone could hack together a driver with the old code or something. This topic seems to come up now and then just wanted to check if anything has changed.

I wonder if there are any open source X-Windows solutions that a developer could leverage. Here's another link that maybe helpful.

it means that the software they wrote works not only with their own pci-tuner for os x but also for a few other tuners except the ones on the list.

hmmm.. using the that link looks like it more or less works the way it did before. X gives me a warning that the kext might be shady but it runs.. too bad the interface is horrible, but at least it's working in X again. thanks

are you using an ixmicro TurboTV PCI card? and what type of G4 do you have? i tried shagadellic TV with my roommates AverTV card and it would not work (said no suitable video card found).

Does that software allow you to record? I may spring for a TV card if it does. What I'd really like though are one of the HDTV cards that are available on the PC.

I have an old ixMicro TV tuner in my B&W G3 running Jag. It would be nice if I can get that running.

Excellent - that's good news. I'll try it with my G3's TurboTV next time I'm home...

it doesn't do much, AFAICT it's a hack job/demo from some Apple developer, the video doesn't even draw in the window (better than nothing tho)

I'm not sure exactly the type. I bought it off ebay for like $12 just to try this out back when people were talking about it. All I know is it's based on the Bt8xx chipset, my machine is a dp533, I'm still using 10.2.3

These guys sell a Pal compatible only TV tuner PCI card. But they say their software should be compatible with this card (http://www.elta.de/english/artikel.a...tikel1=8681+LV) which is NTCS compatible.

Somebody wanna try that? :-)
