Go to AT&T's SMS Site

Just type anywhere in the message field. Does your text go backwards or forwards like it should?

I had it going backwards.. I sent some bug reports to apple and was wondering if people were getting the same thing.

Heh - yep, it goes backwards all right. But I think that might be AT&T, not Safari.

Looks like a JavaScript problem. I've used one of these SMS form fields before in Safari without problems (can't remember where unfortunately, so no link).

has something to do with onblur="calculate();" onKeyUp="calculate();this.blur();this.focus();" onChange="calculate();"

It's been a while since I've done javascript though.

I think the problem is that it calculates and refocuses after every keystroke, and Safari must place your cursor at the beginning of the textfield on focus, therefore making each successive keystroke appear before the last one.

Slightly off topic, but if you want to send a text message to an AT&T user, just send an e-mail to phone_number@mobile.att.net. For example, the phone number (123) 555-1234 would be:

1235551234@mobile.att.net
