A friend of mine is having trouble with his Internet Connect. He says that all of the sudden, it is giving him errors when he tries to dial the number. It doesn't even get to the dial tone. He says he didn't change anything, and didn't install anything that would have messed with it. It was all fine before, and now *poof!*

I know troubleshooting 3rd hand is not fun, but if someone could point me in the right direction as to where to point my friend, I'd appreciate it. He's not a geek, so he's not terribly computer savvy.

Are there specific prefs I can have him trash? Or would repairing permissions and running fsck -y would do the trick?
