Hey All,

I'm currently running an OS X server box on a 2000 AD directory domain. For some reason or another, the built-in samba daemon does not seem to entirely play nice with OS X directory services. All services authenticate to the AD PDC without problem, but those that use SMB are broken. I feel inclined to mention the irony of the situation, an MS-based protocol being the only one that has trouble in X with authenticating to a Windows server. Yes I realise this is a samba problem, not an smb problem. Anyway, in order to get my samba authentication working in check with everything else, I need to use the daemons winbindd and pam_winbind. However, neither of these are installed by the OS X server samba suite, and I have not been able to find a source that will compile for darwin. Now, I know that 10.2.3 does have support for PAM based authentication, but does anyone know of any tools or plugin modules to link these to my samba authentication scheme? Any other work-arounds or suggestions? Any help is appriciated.
