I have a powerbook G4 800mhz with a built in apple airport card and an externa wireless router (netgear). It works perfectly except for when I wake the powerbook up from sleep. I have a full five bars in the airport menu bar but for some reason the applications don't recognize the connection: chimera, explorer, mail etc...they don't see it.
Besides that, it always works. The only solution to getting it going again is to log out and sometimes even reboot.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Do you have the Cisco VPN Client installed?

I've found that it can take up to a minute or two for my iBook to pull an IP address from a DHCP server once it's woken up. Does it work eventually, or will it never connect to the 'net even after waiting a few?

It's a wireless router and does seem to get a network IP address on wake (looking at the network control panel). But it never connects after that. I mean the applications never see the connection. When I steal my neighbor's connection, there's immediate recognition of it by the applications.....
Hmm..

I've found the same thing on my iBook. Putting it to sleep and waking it seems to help. I'm not sure, but it may be related to the fact that I have two wireless access points, as this happens in an area that would be accessible to both. I haven't tested this theory, though, so it may not be..

Since upgrading to 10.2.4, I have noticed that my problems with networking have popped back up. For instance, before when I would use the Cisco VPN Client (the GUI version), and wake from sleep, I wouldn't be able to get an IP from DHCP after waking from sleep. I downgraded to the previous version, and all was well.
Now, when I come home from campus, I can get an IP address, but I am having the same problem as all of you: my applications can't see the connection. Only way to alleviate problem is a restart. Anyone else confirm this?
