I was looking at my system.log and came across this;

AppleCPUThermo couldn't parse platform functions

Ran Apple Hardware Diags and everything checked out ok. I have a G4 Dual 867MHz. Any ideas?

The forums wouldn't allow me to edit my post.

I wanted to add that I'm running OS X 10.2.4. I tried three G4 (MDD)at my work (none of them were 867MHz, two were 1GHz and one 1.25GHz) and this entry did not appear in the system.logs. However, these three systems were running OS X 10.2.1.

Guess I'll try the ol' format and reinstall tonight of OS X.

Did the format and reload work?

Why are you convinced there's a problem worth worrying about?

You could be taking the message out of context ...

Like, AquaMon on my TiBook has so far failed to display CPU Temp ... not that I really care, but I was running it one day and was just curious. My iBook was always at about 20ēC.

AquaMon trying to access CPU temp ... could have dumped some stupid message like that into the Console ... thats why I never have it on --- to scary sometimes to see all those errors.

P.S.

I would try searching KB articles and discussion boards before doing the whole format/reinstall ... which takes for ages.

Damn it Apple! Make a ghost/image utility for OS X!

It looks to me like some system monitoring component you've installed is looking for the hardware support to display the temp and finding that it doesn't exist on your machine.

This message started to apprear on the 24th of this month. I have not installed anything new for a few weeks now. Also do not use any CPU monitor apps. I'm going to try the format and restore tonight.

I did the F&R. Error didn't appear until after I installed the 10.2.4 update. Must be a 10.2.4 thing. Oh well.
