I've found something strange lately with software update. None of the computers in our lab on campus can download the updates. The computers recognize that there is an update available and start the download, but the progress bar doesn't move and then there is an error that some of the updates failed. Our campus network is pretty wide open to the internet as most campus networks are.

If I take my computer home, software update works fine. These updates use to work fine from the lab. Is there a port that is required to be open for SU to work? Has anyone else run into a similar problem problem? The first level of tech support for my department is fairly clueless and it is a nightmare to try to go over their heads. If I had some clue as to the problem it would certainly help.

As it turns out, some people in the lab are able to update certain apps, but not others and it is not consistent from computer to computer. For instance, while I was unable to update to 10.2.4 on several machines, another person downloaded the 10.2.4 update fine, but couldn't get the iMovie update. Someone else couldn't get the 10.2.4, iMovie, or the G4 firmware.

Bizarre.
