last night my itunes went funky on me. now, when i try opening the app, i get a message that says:

the itunes music library file cannot be read because it does not appear to be a valid library file.

any thoughts / ideas on how to fix this?

that is a pain. your itunes library is still lost along with all your ratings, playcounts and not to mention playlists

hmmmm...my library came through. i didn't employ playcounts, ratings or playlists so luckily i didn't suffer there.

First you should try a restart. I've had iTunes do something very weird some time ago: it just did nothing, crashed, and when it opened it said it couln't open the library.

As my library and especially playcounts are VERY important (the reason I've made a backup of it), I first tryed restarting cause it may be occupied. And indeed, that did the job.

Btw, this should be in Software.
