Hello everyone,

I just got my new G4 a couple of days ago and I have gigs worth of files I'd like to transfer from my PC to my Macintosh. I have a firewire cable which I know I can connect my iBook to my G4 using Target Disk Mode, but I was wonderinf if I could do the same for my PC?

My PC has a couple of firewire ports on it, but I am unsure if I can just hook the cable up between the two computers and just have it work, or if there's some settings I need to put it, or if I can't do it at all.

Any ideas?
DDJ

Now we come to step three. This... drives... most... people... crazy.

Well, on the Macs you will need the Firewire over IP, but that is not available yet, I belive.

It was available as a public beta, but it was pulled. If you sign up as a developer, I think you can get it. I have no idea why they pulled it, so use at your own risk.

On the PC side, I understand that they have had the ability to network over FW for a while.

Another option is to install software on the PC so that it can read/write HFS+ disks. (I think MacDrive is one?)

Then start the Mac in Firewire Target Mode as usual, and plug it into the PC.
