'ucontrol' was THE solution for OS X, so if I were you I would try looking for a cached download of it somewhere.

And if you find it, let me know. Since changing computers, I need to redownload all those little nifty utilities.

Personally, I use it to enable scroll via trackpad on my PB, while holding the FN key.

Software patents are evil.

It has an option for one handed typing (switches keys if the space bar is held down). The author added it for his mother who has problems with one hand.
I didn't use it since it requires a lot of training, and it's not possible to type umlaut characters since these do not swap sides.

Apperently someone has a patent on this and prohibits distribution of uControl.
"You can swap any key, but you can't swap all keys since we have a patent on this."

I guess a future release of uControl will have this feature removed (and his mother getting a special build).

IF it were okay to email it, i would say that i've received TWO copies of it in the last 15 minutes.

but my lawyer has advised my not to say anything...

would have installed it, gotten a "X" over the icon, and run it anyway...

so far so good (is what i would have probably said)

what if someone was to write this except that instead of swapping ALL keys, it swapped all but ONE?

I made that up to paraphrase what the patent holder could have said in a sarcastic way. The patent or patent holder is not mentioned on the uControl web site, so I don't know what exactly it claims.

The one hand typing feature does not swap all keys. It doesn't swap umlaut character keys for example, as I've mentioned before.
