I'm on a University network which runs at SuperFast speeds, but every time I wake up my iBook Mail bounces a couple of times and says it can't connect. Browsers don't load Google for about 20 seconds after wake-up. Is this normal? It's nothing huge, it's just when you start up Safari you want it to just work.

How is your iBook connected to the network? Ethernet or Airport? does it use DHCP? maybe for some reasons, the DHCP server is slow to assign an IP to the iBook... in that case, using static IP would help.

Yeah, it uses DHCP. I think I don't really have much choice about that. Suppose I'll just have to live with it.

I have this problem too, hasn't losing network connection after sleep been a problem with X here and there since the beginning?

Your iBook is trying to get a new DHCP lease, it must be the server that is slow to assign them.

This is not a bug..
