Hi, I want to compile PHP 4.3.1 from the source. (The entropy.ch version doesn't include DOM-XML which I need.)

Any how, when I enter my configure string and './configure', I get the following error:

Code:
loading cache ./config.cache checking for Cygwin environment... no checking for mingw32 environment... no checking for working sed... sed checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin6.3 checking for gcc... gcc checking whether the C compiler (gcc -flat_namespace - undefined suppress) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.
What's the problem? (I've got the 12/12/2003 version of Developer Tools, OSX 10.2.3)

12/12/2003 version of Developer Tools???
Mind me, but I doubt you've got such a thing. Or if you do, then that would be the problem

Actually, I have the most recent version from LAST year....

Any thought on solving the actual problem??? Surely somebody must have tried to compile PHP themselves...

Yes, and it works 'out of the box'.

Take a look at config.log to see what's wrong with your compiler.

I read somewhere else that somebody was having problems because they 'upgraded' to 10.2 from 10.1 and that the Developer Tools 'gcc' didn't work right with 'admin user' acount that were upgraded from 10.1 to 10.2 versus 'admin user' account created in 10.2.

I've creatd a seperate 'admin user' under 10.2 and sure enough, I don't get the
Code:
onfigure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.
errors that I was getting before??????

While it is good that I can compile in my freshly created '10.2 admin user' account, what do I have to do to fix the problem in my old '10.1 ->upgraded to 10.2 admin user account' ???
