Hi,

I remember that Sony digital cameras used to be listed on apple.com for purchase. This is no longer the case. I am strongly considering buying the Sony DSC-P72 camera from sony.com but I'm not sure if it is compatible with Mac OS X. Actually, I'm not entirely sure what it would all need to be compatible with since it is just a USB connection. I don't care about the software that comes with the camera since I would just use photoshop or iphoto for my photo needs. I just want to be able to get the pictures off of the camera.

Sony.com says it is only compatible up to 9.2 but a review I read on dcresource.com says it is compatible with OS X. (I think the guy who wrote the review, Jeff Keller, writes for MacWorld magazine so you'd think he would know.)

Any light that could be shed on this would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to have the camera in my possession before spring break in a couple of weeks!

Well, here's their compatibility list:

But I dont think it's been updated in a while - my camera isn't listed and it works great. Even in the remarkably off-chance that it doesnt work via USB, any self-respecting digital photographer uses a card interface to transfer the photos without draining the camera's battery.

Work with OS X with no problem what so ever, however it is very annoying to have to unmount the MS from the desktop before you disconnect the camera.

I used to have to use those Sony cameras. Personally I would go with a different camera maker, since Sony cameras have a number of shortcomings.
