I would like to record my voice, but my built-in iMac mic is not really the best thing to use.

I know there are several USB solutions, but, as my iMac (like mots macs) has a built in external 3.5 mm stereo microphone entry, i just wanted to know if there's any chance some cheap PC-like micro would ever fit in this iMac in line entry.

And if so, what should i choose in terms of impedance, voltage, connector, noise ratio, and the like.

Thanks

Vic

Hey Vic,

i had the chance to get one of those old iMac Mikes (they were delivered with several iMacs, the first series, I think).

They are special: they sit (VERY practical, I think) on top of your monitor, mine is white and translucent.

Don't try and get one of the OLD Apple Mikes (beige), they have different connectors!

It has a really great sound quality, I use it to talk via IP, record my ideas (guitars, voice) etc. I really love that thing and can truly recommend it.

It is WAY better than alle the mikes of my PC/Mac friends, even better than a headset in my opinion. The sound quality is stunning. YOu might be able to get one at ebay.

Maybe I find a foto on the net somewhere, wait...

the shape looks like this one, mine is more translucent:

but in fact IS NO USB mike! I have 3,5mm.

The cord is longer in my case which makes it easy to put it on the monitor.

Hope I've helped ya.

groetjes,
