Okay so i turned on windows file sharing and created a user called music that can log in. I can get it just fine from the windows box. But I don't want to be in the music home directory. I want to share a different hard disk altogether. I remember a utility or a way to change the directory it points to. How can I make the user "music" point to something different?

The easiest way possible to set this up would be great since I have to access my OS X box through timbuktu pro with windows from work to make changes. Thanks.

add something like this in /etc/smb.conf :

[SharedMusic]
path = /Volumes/YourDiskName
browseable = yes
only guest = no
read only = no
writable = yes

(see examples in smb.conf file)

There may very well be better ways, but I solved a similar problem by changing the home directory of the user with NetInfo Manager to /Volumes/[NameOfDisk]/[NameOfFolder].

I thought it could be done by just changing the permissions of a folder/hd..
