I have a A-Tech Subsystems 2.5 inch USB1.1 enclosure, which uses a Cypress SL11RIDE USB to IDE/ATAPI bridge on a PowerBook G3 (Lombard) which works fine with the enclosed driver under Mac OS 9.2.2, but does not work with Mac OS X 10.2.4.
I have contacted A-Tech a few times, but they are located in Taiwan and the communications I am having with them are stilted at best. It seems they think that it should work out of the box. The two driver installations (Cypress USB Storage 1.4J and Cypress USB Storage) I could find do not work in that I cannot get the drive to mount.
The Apple System Profiler recognizes the device as ScanLogic USBIDE
Product ID 2
Vendor ScanLogic USBIDE
Device Speed Full
Power (mA) 500
The USB Prober from the Developers Toolkit yields:
ScanLogic USBIDE@100000 <class IOUSBDevice>
AppleUSBComposite <class AppleUSBComposite>
IOUSBInterface@0 <class IOUSBInterface>
IOUSBMassStorageClass <class IOUSBMassStorageClass>
IOUSBUserClientInit <class IOUSBUserClientInit>
IOUSBUserClientInit <class IOUSBUserClientInit>
In the documentation on the chipset from the Cypress website makes reference to a firmware update that can only be done on a Windows machine.
I was curious if anyone had been able to get one of these enclosures to work. I am using a the stock 2.5" Fujitsu drive that came with the PowerBook in the enclosure.
Thanks,
BBx
