Why has Apple not released a QuickTime 6.1 Sandalone Insaller? This makes me suspicious there might be a few bugs in this release.

By making it available only through Software Update Apple can "pull" the installer without Standalone Installers "floating" about.

Standalone installers have typically been released a couple of days after it appears in Software Update (System Preferences).

Any ideas?

Go into software update, check for updates, then select download to desktop. This will let you have the self installer right on your desktop.
