I have a 10 gig hard drive that has my 10.2.4 system on it with tons of files, I want to install a 40 gig hard drive and move everything to it, what's the best way to do this to make sure everything works okay, with permissions etc it can get scary, I am guessing I have to use a utility to make an image of the drive or something but have never done this so am not sure as to the process, thanks!

I just used Carbon Copy Cloner to move files to my new drive.
I had some doubts as I don't really understand some of the options offered in the software but using the default I was able to get it working. So far so good.
I did have an external firewire drive to park the drive image on in between the two drives though. I am guessing this makes it easier.
All in All CCC works just like I was told it would.

Good Luck

Carbon Copy Cloner rules. I've used it to do exactly whay you're taking about at least three times, now. I also use it to back up my system to secondary drives, and it has saved my butt a couple of times when I got too curious about things I should have left alone.

I have also heard really good things about CCC. Do report back once you transfer the data.
