explain my menubar clock (wtf ?!)

it's sopposed to be a 12hr. clock, but now it's the strangest hybrid.

I'ts the original clock, never hacked it, factory settings basically.

Check International preference pane I believe to make sure its set to 12 hour, not 24.

Heh. What's the point of a 24 hr clock when you have PM and AM?

The stickman NSStatusItem is probably Proteus.

The subtlety that you seem to missing, my dear CheesePuff, is that when one's clock is set to 24 hour time, the AM/PM designation becomes irrelevant, and therefore ceases to appear next to the time.

I would try toggling the setting in your system preferences, and if that doesn't work, I would buy a new computer, since it's always nice to have a new computer.

actually goind into date and time > menubar clock > click on use 24 hr. clock and then uncheking it solved the problem,
strage though.
