How often does OS X Sync the time when this option is selected? I have my server set to use this. Its an old machine so I'm sure the battery is weak, and thats why the time goes slow on it, but I have it set to use a network time server, so it should sync itself pretty often, I would think it would go often enough to make slow or fast time not really an issue, but I guess not. Also, how can a week batter effect something like the speed of time, obviously it could make it forget things when you shutdown, but modifing the speed of time seems odd.

As far as I know it checks often so you don't have to worry about it.

A dead batt should have no effect on the speed of your computer.

I agree with Star Wars guy. The weakness of the battery should have no effect on how fast the clock works. How can you tell it's slow? Can you watch it and another clock side by side and your server will noticeably run behind?

Yes I can compare its time to my G4 and its always off, but if I manually sync the time on it, they match perfectly. Does anyone know how often it syncs by defualt, and if theres an xml file anywhere I can edit to make it check more often, like ever 3 or ever 6 hours? I'm guessing that it does it ever 24, and each day it managest to slip a few minutes until it is reset.

Acctually your G4 could be off too I set any Mac I work on to check network time servers. I had two PC friends once who used to argue about who's comp was slow or fast because their clocks every few weeks would be off by a few minutes. So they always asked me... turned out his was about a minute fast, her's was two minutes slow.
