I'm trying to rename a mounted share on my iBook (it's the whole C drive on my XP machine); it won't let me. Is there any way I can rename it (right now it just says "C", which is pretty bleak)?

If not, is there any way for me to create an alias to it, then have the mounted share icon for that volume removed from the desktop, yet still have it "mounted"?

In XP, right click your C: drive and choose Sharing and Security. In there, change the "share name" to whatever you want it to be on your Mac. That's the easiest way.
