I'm getting a firewire HD, and I'm trying to find out if I can format it in such a way that I can swap it between PCs and Macs easily -- what formatting should I use? Do I need any 3rd party software? The two machines I'm using are running Windows XP and a MacOS X 10.2.4. I know I can plug it in and network it -- I want a way of actually directly plugging it into both machines. Thanks!

Just format it for use with Windows (NTFS) and then it will be fine.

FAT32

I don't think anything can use NTFS except Windows NT-based systems.

Yeah, the Mac'll read the PC formatted drive. The PC can't read jack if it's formatted as a HFS+.
