When I try to set up my internet connect to dial up, it seems impossible to enter a username for the dialup service. This is the situation on both mine and my girlfriend's macs, both running 10.2.4.

It's a bit embarassing really - I convinced her to get an iBook because macs are so easy to use - then when it comes to getting online this happens :-)

Anyway, here's a pic:



As you can see, the service provider, alternate number and name all have no text entry box.

Does anyone know where this info is kept? maybe I could edit the files (probably plists or something) by hand.

Off of the top of my head, try clicking the "Edit" button below the password box. These details are filled in under the PPP tag in Network preferences if I remember correctly. Make sure the "Show" area is set to "Internal modem"
