Assuming you know what you are talking about ... you would do best with an Alienware or a home-built dualproc PC box.

it seems like you want to do a lot of gaming on this correct? macs are behind the pc in the gaming world.

look around the mac gaming websites and see if the games on mac are good enough if not, like nsxpower said, a pc might be better for you.

90%+ of games that come out for OS X come out 5+ months before on the PC side. If game playing is your deal, get a PC.

I would guess that only 5% of games come out for the Mac, but they tend to be the best 5% (but again, other then players such as Blizzard... they come out a few months after.)

That being said, I tend to buy Mac + PlayStation II/XBox/Cube

Not to be a jackass, but you sound like some 15 year old kid crying because he can't use his Mac for games. Feel free to go PC. You won't be missed.

Can you change that to 14? I am 15 and I dont whinge, besides I dont think anyone buys a winblows pc just for games, seeing as they are like £1000 ... The best games on mac are often the small shareware games, I like them

haha yeah thats why pc cant really compete at all with macs at all in the music industry and that every laptop ive seen on stage ever really has been a mac, for god sake if your going to criticise something do your research.

LoL... I don't really miss gaming much. I have a PS2 and a XBox.

If you already think a Mac is shitty and you're tired of it then why bother coming to a Mac forum and asking us? What an idiot.

guardianx just wants to see everyone freak out... To be honest, I hope people like guardianx DO move away from all things Mac.

I think the "Macs suck at Music" reference shows just how little guardianx knows about the mac or the Music recording industry in general. Even on the low end, iTunes is second to NONE. On the high end, there is eMagic. It's the Final Cut Pro of music editing.

Ugh, I hate myself for even replying to the crap guardianx types...

(Sorry for the 15 year old remark... I should have said "Rebel without a clue..."

Troll,

Ya I was about to slap him upside his head. Mac sucks for music is like saying Yoko Ono sucks at the chello, course it's unlikely he knows who he is. And of course web browsing sucks on a Mac when you're using Internet Explorer, it's optimized for windows... just like Safari is optimized for OS X, and even tho it's still in beta it is a very fast web browser. Now if you wanna continue to sound stupid feel free to reply. You want games.... alienware makes the best boxes on the market for that and I some how doubt you're capable of building your own machine. Have a Great day.

He was a great painter too, back when he was married to Ringo Star.

Take your own advice and don't post about things you don't quite get.

I think it was that video Yo Yo and Ringo did from that hammock. Very distasteful.

Aaanorton, that was great!!! I laughed my rear off. That was one of the funniest replies I have ever seen here on macnn. Thanks for making my day!

P.S. I'm wondering how many people on this board actually know both Yoko Ono and Yo-yo Ma and aren't older than 40.

Guardian....bad performance from your speaker system could be a defective product.
Perhaps you could tell us what kind of mac you are using now; therefore, we could make a decent comparison between a new pc and a new macintosh.

Here are the price listings for a Alienware PC:

Alienware Desktop
Alienware Laptop

Here are the price listing for a Power Mac:

Apple Power Mac G4
Apple Powerbook

Now you could get a dell but you are looking for a gaming machine afterall, a home- built pc just won't do.
While there are not too many games for the macintosh you can still get more screen real estate and more chances to code.

check out: aspyr, macplay, blizzard, maxis, shareware titles for mac games

you could benefit from a console, all of them are down to $199 and the games cost $50 each. The X-Box and Playstation 2 come with built in dvd also. The gamecube has excellent load times. There are broadband adapters available for them too. Also, a large majority of games like Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Mega Man X, Metroid Prime, Final Fantasy, and WWE Smackdown! will; never make there way to the pc desktop. So you might consider more choices an option.

Whatever decison you make it, it has to be yours.
