From my title it should be obvious I'm not quite totally sure what I'm talking about here.
Anyway, I have been watching the CPU usage of the program forty-two, and it never takes more than 50% or so of the processor (when I've been watching it at least.) I don't really care if the system becomes unresponsive, I just want it to do it's job more quickly. It took me about 25 hours to turn Spiderman into a 700 MB DivX movie. Can I change this program's priority so it gets more CPU usage?

Another small offtopic question, I told forty-two to make a 700 MB movie so it'd fit on a CD, but it ended up creating a 718 MB file instead. Did I do something wrong?

Get process viewer, lets you change CPU priority for apps, background apps, and all user and non user processes.

Good stuff

I use Process Wizard to change the priority of my apps. You can also do it in the Terminal.
