I'm trying to share files between my Mac OS X machine (10.2.4) and My Win2000 Professional box. I am using Brickhouse to configure the firewall in X. I've created two filters, one that allows the source Internet to My Computer and the other that allows My Computer to destination Internet for SMB/CIFS file sharing. When the firewall is active, and these two filters in place, I do not see my Win2K machine in the Finder's Connect to Server dialog. If I type the IP address explicitly, it brings up the CIFS login dialog, but fails. If I disable the firewall (ala Brickhouse) I'm able to see my Win2k machine in the Connect to Server dialog, and login and mount the share I've created without a problem.
I'm trying to do this on my own home network, where each machine has a private IP address on the same subnet.
I have a filter in Brickhouse that allows Timbuktu access, and I'm able to access my machine from work via Timbuktu without a problem.
What could I be doing wrong? I'd like to be able to have the firewall active, and have control by defining what ports I'd like to allow to/fro my Mac.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
