somehow i seem to have completely screwed up the permissions on my 12" powerbook. now i cannot download anything to disc at all.

can anyone help me get the original settings back?

try using disk utility, this has an option of repairing your settings.

It's in /applications/utilities

thanks for the response BJPirt. i have in fact tried this...a few times but i still end out not being able to download anything to my desktop.

i believe i have solved it now.

ok, good luck. I don't know what you did but checking the permissions in the get info window on your home directory would be a good idea.

and batchmod is your friend in such situations however use it with care
