I set my desktop to change image automatically, but nothing happens. It just stays on one image. Anyone know how to do this?

Not to be an ass or make you feel stupid, but you do have it pointed to a directory full of images? (we all overlook the simple things sometimes) I'd also make sure you have permissions to the directory. Do the images show up in the bottom half of the panel in System Preferences?

nono....you're not an ass....
I have selected the pictures folder in my home directory, selected an image and then selected change image every 5 seconds, randomly (tried the other settings to).
I get the three arrows in the image box (where the desktop image usually comes up). I go to show all system preferences and hide it...and quit it. Nothing helps...
Any other ideas?
And yes, I have full access to the folder with images, both read and write for everyone.

hmm, did you ever restart or force quit your finder. I know the backgrounds prefpane is kind of a jerk sometimes in such situations.

I didn't want to come off as being condescending or anything like that with the folders thingy...
You could try a relaunch of the Finder - it's not going to hurt anything. Not sure if you need to select in image or just the whole directory - I have mine set to alternate every day and the directory has TONS of images.
If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to do - maybe try over at Apple's support forums. They are helpful as well.

hey hey!
It's working... I am a dork!
I chose a picture as my background, then set it to rotate images. Dropped down the collection menu, and selected a folder (pictures folder in home directory) it now toggles images like mad...will set the rate down a bit, I think...
Cheers!
