I recently installed Solaris 8 under VPC6. I did not try to run the X server under VPC which I assume would be very slow, but wanted to use Apples X11 implementation to connect to Solaris via the network (I successfully use the same setup on a PC together with VMware emulation software). Unfortunately I could not get the network up and running. During the installation Solaris correctly identified a networking device dnet and I successfully plumbed the device. I even can ping my own interface and I can login to localhost but do not see any network packet from outside when I use the Solaris snoop command. I tried both the virtual switch as well as the shared IP setting under VPC.
Any suggestions what I might have forgotten to setup?
