System Preferences unexpectedly quits when I select 'accounts' (and only accounts). I've tried to get to it via a link from Mac Help too, but with the same result.

I've tried deleting preference files (though not sure exactly which ones to go for) and I just used disk utility to verify and repair permissions, with no effect.

Can anyone suggest another plan of attack?

Looks like it is trying to load the list of users from the preference pane cache, which is probably corrupt. You can delete the cache, it resides at ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache (where ~ is your home folder). Make sure you quit the System Preferences app before you do so.

Nope, that hasn't fixed it... anything else?
