Hi guys i just bought a new Sarotech Cutie 40 GB external mini pocket firewire drive, and format it win fat32 (since i also have a windows pc).

When i plug the disk to my ibook running jaguar (10.2.4) the disk appear with no problem on the desktop.

But if the ibook goes to sleep after i awake it the desktop does not show the disk anymore, the funny thing its that if i unplug the disk i get the error that i dont dismount the disk and bla, bla, bla.. and i wonder how can i dismount it if i dont see it ??

So the next time that that thing happens i open a terminal window and check if even that the finder does not show the drive it was still mounted (Unix mount command) and i found that the disk was mounted on /Volumes/Name_of_the_disk and i can sucessfully acces this directory and see the contents of my external firewire disk.. (via unix, but still no icon on the finder)

if i dismount the disk via unix, i get the same error sayin that i dont dismount in the disk in the right way.. (what!! i already do so.) and if i plug again the disk it shows ok on the finder..

What its happening ????

Help this barely new switcher, please..

Thanks a lot..

I have heard of many people having this problem, I have had this problem for a while with my QPS firewire burner.

Check out this thread for a possible solution:
