Hello-
I have a DVI 800MHz Titanium Powerbook, and recently have had difficulty connecting to the Internet. I have Earthlink Dial-Up. My problem is thus:
I can connect to the Internet only once per startup. If I connect, then disconnect, then attempt to reconnect again without Shutting Down and then starting up, it tells me that there was an "error with enabling the communication device" (I may have paraphrased a bit there). Which is really strange, because if I shut back down, start back up, then attempt to connect again it will let me, but any subsequent attempts on a single start-up fail. I have the script set to Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90). Changing this to v.34 or v.92 does not help. I have "Enable error correction and compression" turned on, but turning this off does not help. What the hell is going on here?
One other thing I noticed, is that when the computer is asleep and the phone jack is plugged in, if someone phones the line the computer is plugged into it makes the computer start up like it's waking from sleep (the noises and all), but doesn't technically wake it up. I have no clue if this is related at all, but maybe in some random way it is.
Thanks for any help in advance! I had this problem with 10.2.4, thought it was a typical 10.2.4 modem issue so I reinstalled and went back to 10.2.3, but am having the same problems.
