Is it possible to partition the drive into 3 and install OS 9, OS X.1 and OS X.2 respectively in their own partitions? Would one just be able to use the startup disk to select the next boot OS? Can this all be done on the same physical drive. I would expect the partitioning can be, but will the OSes play along and keep their fingers off each other?

Should work without any problems. I used to triple-boot 10.1, 9 and a custom Darwin/10.1 splice without any problems.

Stink different.

I've done 9, X and Linux before, so I'm sure 9/X.1/X.2 would work

Provided they're on separate partitions, of course.
