Monday I decided to run Alsoft's PlusOptimizer. Yesterday I installed ImageMagick using the Fink package installer. Yesterday and especially this morning I found that I had to kill apps in order to stop them. I also got the following message when I started up tcltkgrass: 'Warning: Color name "DarkSlateBlue " is not defined Warning: Cannot convert string "true xterm*saveLines: 10000 " to type Boolean Warning: Color name "DarkSlateBlue " is not defined Warning: Cannot convert string "true xterm*saveLines: 10000 ...'. In addition my SETI@home screen saver can no longer find the SETI@home app on startup unless I first manually start it.
I've occassionally had to kill apps before but not like this and I've never seen this GRASS message before. I've run fsck and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. At the moment I'm able to quit programs without killing them though I ran fsck yesterday too and the problem came back. I still get that GRASS message when I start a GRASS monitor.
I'm fairly sure PlusOptimizer caused problems with my SETI@Home screen saver. Also, the difficulties with program shut down started after running PlusOptimizer. As to the GRASS problem, Fink installs a bunch of X11 stuff along with ImageMagick so perhaps that has reset something and caused my GRASS problem.
Has anyone had similar experiences after using PlusOptimizer or doing an install using Fink? I'm not familiar enough with *NIX to know what I need to edit in Darwin to fix this and would appreciate any advice.
