i haven't played with any of the newer versions of safari which include the tabbed browsing interface, but i have seen some screen shots.

is it just me or does anyone else think that the tabs are upside down?

i mean shouldn't it look like the tab is part of the content area below it rather than part of the toolbar above it?

it might make more sense when you see them in action, but from the still shots i've seen it looks like pretty sloppy interface design.

they work & look fine as they are, it's actually a very stylish interface...

I like the way they look, from the screenshots, I've not tried it. I think that everyone is comparing the tabs to the other browsers with tabs, and thinking they should look the same, I welcome the change myself.

Chances are this thread will be locked or moved to the Software forum. You may want to check out the "Tab Appearance in Safari" thread that I started in the Software forum since it addresses this very issue.

BTW ... I agree with the original poster wholeheartedly.

thanks OAW. i knew i couldn't be the only one. but, based on your poll in the other forum, it doesn't seem like too many others are bothered. personally, i think it sucks. plain and simply, those just aren't tabs.

i also think the the "selected" tab for the page you are viewing should be the one that looks "depressed" and darker grey.

i guess none of these issues are going to bring about the end of the world (the bush administration has that one all locked up).

This argument is old and stale. The tabs in Safari are upside down compared to every other tab. But once you use the app for a little while, you get used to it quickly, and it's actually very nice. Not distracting at all.

So please don't start another Safari Tab debate! Especially since you haven't even used it!!

for what it's worth, the safari tabs seem more modern, cooler than the "traditional" tabs (as in camino etc).

ie more mac than pc...

Side note it's a beta that wasn't even released it was released to developers hence apple may still be refining the tabs. Infact one might even say they stopped the seed program right before they released another version of the tabs so that all the twits that were downloading the ilegal copies wouldn't benifit before anyone else.

I agree with the original poster, but it is true that it is not bothersome in actual use.

Yea, I'm using v.67 right now, and I really like the tab. Just that it crashes sometimes for no reason at all, but of course this is not even suppose to be out yet for the public, so I won't complain about it hehehe.

Its not upside down...have you ever seen brushed metal tabs before?

Compared to aqua it may be upside down but i'd wait until you get a chance to use it before you make your mind up about it. It's actually a very stylish interface!

mattyd: i'm sorry but they are tabs. if you don't like it - don't use it.
