So I have tried to install OSX Jaguar about 9 times now with no success. I want to install it on a second hard drive. I have 1 HD 40 GB that OS 9.2 is installed on and that is my primary disk. I also have a second 80GB western dig HD that I have partitioned into 2 drives: 15 GB and a 60 GB. I want to instal OSX on the 15 GB partition. Initially whenever I tried to install OSX I would get a black screen indicating that the installation had quit and I needed to restart. I then went and updated my firmware and I tried again, this time doing an erase and install. Now I get to the end of the installation and it does the countdown to restart, but it wont restart. I keep getting a grey window on the screen that says in about 5 different languages that I need to restart by holding down the power button or hitting the restart key. The only way I can get the computer to restart is to boot off of Disk Warrior and delete all the installation data. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am using a DP 450 G4 with 1.5 gig RAM, OS 9.2.2, I also have a Matrox RTMac card installed. I only want to install OSX so I can use idvd, that is why I want to put i on a smaller HD out of the way. OS 9 is still my primary OS. Thanks for any help.

I would take out the card and most of the memory. Also remove the extra hard drive.
If you are then able to install X then start adding things back in one at a time to see if you get more kernel panics.

I was just going through the same thing. If it is doing what mine did, at the bottom of the screen telling you to restart there is a memory address on the lower left and the IP address of the computer on the lower right. As soon as I saw the memory address I figured that the RAM check on startup wasn't catching a bad chip. Sure enough I found that one of my RAM chips was the problem, as soon as I replaced it it finished installing with no problem. However now mine won't find or boot off the mirrored 129Gb WD Caviars I installed and I need to figure this out, out of the frying pan and into the fire, geeez?

Where did you get the OSX Jaguar CD?
I had the same problem before, when I tried to install it in my computer with a CD image downloaded from the Internet.
But I now successfully do it with another CD image also from the Internet. So I think the old one is bad one (maybe a incomplete one).
You may try another CD if you downloaded it.
Good Luck!
