Whenever I view ~/Movies/ in column view and I click on a DIVX .avi the Finder hangs with a SBOD. Is this a known issue or do I just need to download the codec for quicktime so it can preview them properly. If so where do I get the codec?

yep, just download the codec, install it in the Quicktime folder and it'll preview the file (video only before doctoring it...)

Cheers, I'm using VLC to view them so i don't care much about the preview, just wish the finder wouldn't crash.

Thanks muchly.

Hi,

which codec do you recommend? (10.2.4); Quicktime 6.1?

Merci

even with the codec installed the finder takes an eon to create the preview, because of something with the audio. it's easier to just turn the preview off with that little disclosure triangle (I believe it will stay off for all media until you open it again)
