Hi, I have the base VPC 6.0 and DOS package, and I have my own registered copies of Win98 and 2000 on CDROM. Question - how do I install these? I can't seem to get the sessions to recognize the CDROMs when I launch them, which I assume should start the OS installer.
Thanks.

Are those original Microsoft CDs or are they Connectix OS packs. If I recall correctly only the later work with VPC...

I can boot from MS CDROMs...
Have you made CDs bootable in the Preferences? Are you booting into DOS first, then trying ot boot the CDs? I just create a new PC, with a blank drive, then capture the CD. I've gotten VPC 6 to boot from my Win 98 & Win2K CDs and a Debian iso, so it should work.

Yes, these are MS CDs, not the Connectix OS packs. I will try making the ROM bootable...didn't think of that!

Normally it will automatically recognize them. If not insert the CD and then choose "Capture Disc" from the Drive menu. This will load it into the virtual os.

This is exactly the kind of problem I had with a real PC and non-bootable Win 98 CD.
I had to make a DOS bootup (floppy) disk with a CD-ROM driver on it.
Man, was it ugly.
And then when Schmindows finally installs, check out the graphics on the installer - even XP.
Ugly as sin :-)

All I had to do to install from my Windows cd'd was to install the disc and click on "capture disc" in the VPC window pane menu,on the bottem of the VPC window.
I was amazed that the Windows install seemed to go better than on an actual PC. I have done the install on many PC's and have problems most of the time. Although really slow all went well.
I was also amazed at how hot my 667 DVI got during the install. It does not get that hot while using VPC thankfully.
Good Luck
Ed
