I was trying to login via ssh to my server at home to transfer some files while at work from my powerbook. While inthe terminal I typed ssh+IP then got a port 22 error. Whats gone wrong. It works fine when I'm at home with the IP the router gives out. Is there another port I have to open on the router. Please advise.

Since it sounds like you have setup port forwarding for port 22, are you sure the machine was running at the time, and not asleep, for example?

If the machine was asleep, it wouldn't respond to remote connections.

There is a 'wake for administrative access' option in the Energy Saver preferences, but it requires specially-crafted network packets on the local network - in other words, it can only be woken by another machine on the local network, not remotely.

So if the machine was asleep, you're out of luck.
