Vanishing Items in Find Function

This is very odd. I sometimes run a find in the Finder and when the items show up (Word documents for example) if I click on them they vanish. I went from two items found to zero after clicking once on both. I really want to find out where the files are, but clicking is the only way I know how to.

Suggestions?
