What's with java on Apple? Using either a Titanium 400mhz with 384 megs ram, 10.2.4 or a Titanium 1ghz with 1gig ram, 10.2.4. Java 1.4.1 installed. Both computers have all updates installed for the OS. Here's the deal:
Go to
www.fiends.com select games-select Star Dart-select Evolution. My son starts a game and java loads and works ok. After a little while the game stops building ships and on either computer the mouse becomes very jerky and stuttering and he has to force quit and start over. I've opened the Java 1.4.1 Plugin Settings located in the Utilities Folder and tried different settings. Clearing the cache. Setting the cache size limit to unlimited. Jar settings - No compression. High compression. Doing the same thing in the other item in the Utilities folder, Java Plugin Settings. In these settings there is an ABOUT tab and this is what it says, "Java (TM) Runtime Enviroment, Standard Edition 1.3.1. Default Virtual Machine Version 1.3.1_03-69. Java(TM) Plu-in 1.3.. I've cleared the Jar cache. Certificates. You name it. Restarted the computers. Applet Launcher doesn't appear to have any settings for me to adjust. The other item, Java Web Start doesn't appear to allow me to do anything here also. The Input Method Hotkey also doesn't appear to help me. Well not that I can tell anyway.
Is there anything I can do to get Java to work correctly? Is it just that Java in general stinks.
I know this is a long post, but my son loves this game and I would like to understand if there is any help with Java.
Thanks everyone.
