I've been having trouble connecting my 12" powerbook to other computer. I am currently running 10.2.3. I'm trying to transfer some files from my powerbook to my imac. when i search for my computer, it cannot find it or if it does it gives me a error message. I took my laptop over a fellow ibook user, and he can find my laptop when he scans for networks? I never had problems doing this before. I am using a cross over cable. Any one know what i'm doing wrong?

You don't have a turned-on firewall?

Doesn't need to be: nowadays the ethernet ports are auto-sensing.

I would have a look at Sharing in Systemprefs.

Sometimes Rendezvous isn't that mature; once you have restarted your Mac, it suddenly sees the other computer, without coming up with these rediculous error numbers.

So far for zero-config: a restart...
