Very, very strange...I accidentally closed that tab out, went back and logged in again, and lo and behold it's GONE from the ADC Download Section. Not a trace of Safari whatsoever...man, I missed the download, argh!

Well what in the world! Apple's going crazy...they've put it back right this second, however none on their various FTP's are working...but I'm not leaving the page all night until I'll hopefully get it from one of them.

The truth:

1) Apple killed the Safari seed program
2) I checked this out a while ago and found nothing.

any developers feel like telling what is new in this build and how close/far they feel a new public beta is?

Safari v71 was removed from the ADC Site, and while it was there all of Apple's FTP's wouldn't send it to me. Also, as mentioned earlier, OS X 10.2.5 was ALSO on the ADC site, however, it too wouldn't download and it was also removed along w/ Safari v71...it seems somebody jumped the gun, but I sure wish I could've hopped on that FTP before they shut it down. Sorry to burst the bubble guys.

Did Apple yank it off their server?
I just checked... it's gone. So they are still seeding it?

LoL, just read my previous post:

Safari v71 was removed from the ADC Site, and while it was there all of Apple's FTP's wouldn't send it to me. Also, as mentioned earlier, OS X 10.2.5 was ALSO on the ADC site, however, it too wouldn't download and it was also removed along w/ Safari v71...it seems somebody jumped the gun, but I sure wish I could've hopped on that FTP before they shut it down. Sorry to burst the bubble guys.

Apple yanked it just about as soon as it was put up there, along with OS X 10.2.5. It's gone.

I logged in to the Dev site last week and saw the 10.2.5 releases for OSX and OSXS. I was unable to download either though. I think that Apple's Dev site mysteriously burps.

Sorry for my tone at the end. I wasn't calling you crap, just your comment. I failed to seriously consider the possibility that Apple screwed up for a moment and accidentally posted something they shouldn't have. I thought this was another late April Fools joke (which I've had a lot played on me lately) / lame rumor report, so I went to instant-bitch mode. I'll be more careful next time.

Ah no, the truth is apple killed the Apple Seeding Program seeding Safari beta builds because of all the *******s leaking builds to carracho.

They did not kill the app, just the seeding program.

I also heard that Apple had terminated the seeding program to developers. That is strange that they would post a new build, but based on that screenshot I am convinced that it is possible.

They terminated AppleSeed access to Safari. AppleSeed is Apple's customer seeding problem, not the developer seeding program.

The developer seeding program has never had Safari (or any other consumer level apps) seeded... Just OS X builds, dev tools, java stuff, SDKs, etc...

The latest version that I can confirm is floating around is v69 (Because I'm on it right now). Keychain support is in this build, and it's very nice. They also fixed the graphical glitch that occured when opening many tabs.

Actually, v60 shows up for alot of users in Software Update that are using later un-released builds like v64/67...no idea why, but it's been a common theme!

I just downloaded it too. Fixed a lot of stuff, runs very nicely.
I wonder how these builds keep leaking, even though Apple shut down the seeding program. I'm sure they'll be plenty pissed when they see 69 floating around all over the place.

Word. But then again I don't use too many sites other than MacNN and VersionTracker... so I'm pretty happy with these last few builds...

I think both are out

Theres some good news in v71 for those that browse porn (God forbid).

A new menu "Reset Safari" is now added which erases your browsing history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes cookies. It also removes any saved names and passwords or other AutoFill text and clears Google search entries.

Its so great when hard, but important work gets automated

yes it is, sorry.

69 and 71 seems almost identical, no? versiontracker looks best with 71 though (but 69 is best for porn anyways )

I notice that v71 has signs of "Beta 2" everywhere on it...interesting! Besides it totally jacking up the MacNN forum boards, I like this build.

I tried v69 and v71 briefly but went back to v60. Small fonts such as the one in this post are nicely smoothed and very readable in v60. In v69 and v71 they're rendered in a bitmap font that is completely unreadable at that size.

v71 seems to have all the pros and none of the cons of the last few versions thats I've seen. Looks like the final is close and like it will be great.

Yup, that is true. According to Dave Hyatt, they implemented this on request that bitmapped fonts should stay bitmapped fonts. Of course, for smaller sizes of those fonts (geneva for instance) it looks like utter crap and should still be anti-aliased.

I hope they at least make it an optional thing. I hate bitmapped fonts, especially when they look that bad.

That post is antialiased in my v71.

Hmmm. I turned down the minimum anti-aliasing cutoff to 8 pt instead of 9 in general preferences and now I get anti-aliasing on this forum.

However it appears to anti-alias the bitmap-version of the font instead of the vector like it did before. And that just looks horrible (think IE shortcut bar).

Dammit!

It looks a lot better if you set a minmum font size of 12 or 14 point. I like that because stuff that is too small is converted up to a better size.
