It is unofficial, but presumably accurate. The 'General' Preference Pane will include an area to select either Aqua or Brushed Metal (via radio buttons). Aqua's 'Appearance' and 'Highlight Color' options will be done away with.
It is not clear if an API for 3rd parties to call will be finished in time. Also, fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your viewpoint), the Finder will remain Aqua. Apple will wait until the heavy lifting from Carbon to Cocoa before the Finder is able to make use of Brushed Metal.

we'll just all have to wait and see.
BUT, let's at least hope it's an option if in fact it's true.

Yeah, he's bullshitting us. If Apple does this then EVERY developers have to check their apps in both aqua and brushed metal to see if it looks good. It's major time-consuming. I don't believe it will happen. I'm willing to bet $5
veldmon, why didn't you post it in one of Panther threads instead?

Makes me wonder why someone with no posts would be interested in telling us this.

So no Graphite option, pissing off a lot of designers?
Hard to believe.

I really don't understand these comments. Just because this individual doesn't spend night and day posting on macnn.com forums like a lot of you little kiddies, does not mean his post is any less credible.
So drop the elitist attitudes.

I can smell the jealousy in you
Let me explain to your little stupid brain why most people usually flame on any people with very few posts: Most of the time, someone registered a new account so that they can post as an "anonymous" and avoid being flamed or lost all of the credibility. If they got banned, they still have their real accounts.
So drop the crybaby attitudes

Just because some people abuse the system doesn't mean you can assume that everyone does. This person may be a legitimate new member who just hasn't posted much, and you have no evidence to suggest the contrary. You are the one doing the flaming, through terms like "little stupid brain."

Oh, the irony! The original poster haven't provided anything to back him up and you said I have no evidences to suggest the contrary? Jesus christ, people like you can be so... cheesy.

Yes, jealousy. That has to be it. Thanks for pointing out your strategy for not making yourself lose credibility. However, in all honesty, I do not believe you are having much success.

Oh ****, I think I'll lose a sleep because you said I'm not having a much success (which I never wanted to achieve in the first place)
I don't give a **** if you said that I lost all of the credibility. I respect people that know what they are talking about.
Dislike me? Report me to mods and the sky will turn back to blue or whatever.

I hope Panther includes a "theme" that looks like the interface for the new Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio, and Shake.
I think they look pretty darned good.

Yep, I love it too. Swiz will be making a new theme that use those new interface in FCP, DSP and Shake. I can't wait to see how Photoshop will look in it

Adam you've said Jesus more than my pastor did in his last sermon. In a public forum Christians don't or at least shouldn't caliously disrespect your strongly held beliefs, please show the same respect for our's... That said aside from Adam's flambioant insulting of my God, I agree completely and I understand his rage. I wish the mods here would ban IPs and not just user names. Twits who make stupid posts like this with new accounts should be banned and their posts removed so that the regular users don't have to tollorate this.

I don't see why there can't a lighter brushed metal option. The brushed metal that we're used to is about 33 - 44% grey with horizontal streaks. Why couldn't it be about 11 - 22% grey? Then it would hopefully match aqua enough to look somewhat similar.

Brushed metal is totally cool as a theme. I am completely satisfied that Apple is likely to give us this choice. I think brushed metal with aqua buttons and colors looks fantastic. Just have a look at my dekstop here

I think it is possible but not very pleasing to the eye. I've had all brushed metal and kept it for about 4 minutes.
The Professional appearance sounds more likely with aqua menus.
It is better this hasn't turned out to be the fiasco on these forums 10.2 Jaguar was. It seemed everyone and their sister had a pirated copy.
Let's hope we have no clue what it will look like so we can have "suprise".
These are rumors so take them lightly and try not to assume he is a former user. If your so intrigued ask him.

As if Apple would make the system brushed metal, yet retain an Aqua Finder? How stupid does the original poster thing people here are?
