I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. When I start gimp, the tool panel's icons are resized smaller so that they're unusuable. I have to resize it larger so that I can actually see what they are. I'm using Apple's x11 beta 3 and gimp 1.2 installed from the latest fink.

I have seen this as well, however for me they are still usable and I don't bother to resize them, it just looks really ugly. By the way, I use Fink stable.

I see the same behaviour. Fink stable and X11 beta 3.

Yes, that is exactly how mine looks. I tried updating to the latest fink stable and did an 'apt-get udpate' and 'apt-get upgrade'. Still broken.
Anyone know how to downgrade to x11 beta 2?

But, hey, elysian, isn't downgrading a bit drastic? Just resizing the window works kind of well for me:

How did you get your fonts and icons to look like that, with the pinstripes and stuff? That looks pretty cool. I can resize it myself, but each time I restart gimp, it changes back to the scrunched up icons.

I've installed a GTK theme. It's called XLiquid and can be found here.
If you need help installing the theme I'll be glad to help.

Thanks. I tried to install it but I'm not getting the pinstripes, just white. I downloaded it from your link. I made a directory called .gtk_themes in my home directory and moved the theme folder there. Then I copied the gtkrc to ~/.gtkrc and changed the pix_map path to "/Users/myusername/.gtk_themes/XLiquid_GTK-1.0.2/gtk/". Then I restarted X11 and gimp but it's just white. Am I missing something?

Oh, what you did looks good but you need to install the gtk-engines package as well.
sudo apt-get install gtk-engines
That should do it.
