Hi all,

For some reason recently Jaguar is giving me grief, after a while drag and drop actions don't work in the Finder either in windows or on the desktop, everything else seems to be working but when this happens I can't get D&D back until I reboot my machine.

Anyone with similar problems, any remedies?

I also notice that I have 14 zombie processes which are all listed as 'perl'. What would be using perl and is this what is killing my drags?

If so, how can I kill those processes as root?

I ran into this. With some help from an engineer friend, we found out that the PBS (I guess "pasteboard service") process was crashing on startup. It turned out it was choking on a ViaVoice file, which likely got corrupted during a crash.

The other crashed process that can cause this is core services.

I don't think this stuff is easy to diagnose, but it could have to do with a flakey service, so the first thing to check is whether you've installed any services recently. If yes, diable them and see what happens. If that doesn't help, I don't know what to tell you...
