In OS 9, I used to use "BetterTelnet" to access databases where I would frequently select snippets from large listings and print them individually, with the "Print Selection" menu item.

Telnet is built into Mac OS X, but Terminal does not have a "Print Selection" menu item, and copy/pasting or sending to textedit via Services is terribly cumbersome compared to choosing one menu item.

Can anyone suggest either:

a) a way to add "Print Selection" to Terminal

or

b) a standalone telnet / terminal app which does offer "Print Selection"?

for b) I did find "dataComet-Secure" which technically works, but it has some issues with scrolling, printing, and general UI design... :/

thanks,
-alex

a simple fix would be:

cat fileYouWantToPrint.txt | mail yourEmailAddress@server.com

Then check your email and print the file. That should work in most cases.

Or just have another Terminal window open.

1. Select some text.
2. Command-C to copy.
3. Command-` to flip to the other window
4. Type lpr (and return)
5. Command-V to paste.
6. Control-D to finish the input.
7. Command-` to flip back.

Takes a few seconds, but it's pretty painless.
