I want to upgrade someone's machine from 10.1 to 10.2 next weekend. I'm wondering if I have to back up anything. Does it just update system files or will I have to backup anything?

Well, it can't be said enough: always backup your personal files. There's always a chance of failure. If everything goes well, X.2 uses all the prefs of system X.1, but you never know... Just don't take the risk, you might be very sorry.
