Under 10.2.4, all was fine. Now, none of my apps, none, print. All produce an error. Console says things like:

WrapPM error: PMSessionValidatePageFormat failed

I've trashed all print prefs I can find. No go. Any suggestions? TIA.

When trying to print from TextEdit, I received this entry in the console:

2003-04-11 00:23:34.688 TextEdit[459] PMSessionValidatePageFormat failed (error code = -9583)

Any help appreciated.

Try to reinstall; that is 10.2.5 over 10.2.5. This could resolve such peculiar problems.

Same problem here. So I unplugged all my USB devices from the Belkin hub. I then plugged the keyboard into the back of the computer. Then everything is OK. No KP's.

I then plugged an Epson printer directly into my G4. It worked fine and did not KP. I then plugged the printer into my Belkin 7 port USB hub and the printer would not show up in Print Center nor in Classic Chooser.

I then plugged the mouse back into the Belkin hub and the cursor would not move so I plugged the mouse again directly into the computer.

Haven't had a kernerl panic since disabling the Belkin hub.

Narrowing it down!

Interesting, but I don't have a kernel panic problem. I am getting a specific printing error across all apps, all printers. No USB hub or anything. Standard network printing.

I tried the suggestion of fixing permissions. Unfortunately, it did not work.

And reinstalling 10.2.5 has not solved the problem either. Am stumped so far.

Try with the 10.2.5 Combo.

Have you tried going to print center and deleting the printer and then adding it back?

Yes. I didn't delete the old ones though. None of the printers were found. If plugged into the computer I suppose I could delete but that isn't important. Whether deleted or not I should be able to see or even add a second copy of the same printer. I've done that before playing around.

The only time the printers now show up is when they are plugged directly into one of the two USB ports on the computer.

So the problem lies with hub.

Well, I have installed the 10.2.5 Combined Updater, deleted and re-added printers. No soap. When I try to print from Word, all I get is "Word cannot print." When I try from TextEdit, I get the printer dialog box, and then after clicking the Print button, all I get is a box that says:
Print
Error while printing.
Here is a Console output:
## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)
2003-04-11 11:31:47.300 TextEdit[595] PMSessionValidatePageFormat failed (error code = -9583)
2003-04-11 11:35:32.278 TextEdit[595] PMSessionValidatePageFormat failed (error code = -9583)
## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)
Any further thoughts appreciated, but is there any way to take the USB hub printing problem to another thread? It has nothing to do with this issue. No ofense intended, but the cross-discussion is not assisting this resolution.

Uh-oh...now you've done it.

You made a comment that implied you were irritated because folks were posting solutions that had nothing to do with your problem (the hub thingie), so now you're an a-ole ingrate and no one will help you again. Rant over.

I've had good luck using Print Repair Utility (not with 10.2.5, I was in 10.2.4). Go to Versintracker.com and do a search for it.
